One-third of Americans recently told pollsters for software firm Mersive that they attend 10 or more meetings every week. Another recent poll for Clarizen found 46% would rather get a root canal or go to the Department Motor Vehicles than attend another status meeting. Oh, and it’s been estimated that Americans attend 11 million meetings daily and waste $37 billion a year doing so.
Meetings, of course, are an integral part of our collaborative work dynamic. It’s how we share information, gain valuable insights and, well, collaborate. But there are a lot of meetings — and they aren’t all a positive experience.
This week, we’d like to know about your experience with meetings — how many you have, how many are external versus internal, your thoughts on making meetings “work” — oh, and your pet peeves about meetings.
