Reader Poll: The Scariest Movie Is…

Monday is Halloween – as good a time as any to think about things that go bump in the night – or that make us jump out of our seats. As we spend the weekend preparing for trick-or-treaters, what, according to NAPA Net readers, is the scariest movie?
Starting with the bottom of the top 25, we have:
#21 The Blair Witch Project (launching a whole generation of “found” shaky camera footage)
#22 Rosemary's Baby
#23 Dawn of the Dead (1978)
#24 The Others
#25 Aliens
The next grouping included:
#16 Dawn of the Dead (2004 – with the fast zombies)
#17 The Haunting (1963)
#18 The Omen (1978)
#19 Seven
#20 The Ring
And that brought us to:
#11 Halloween (1978)
#12 Halloween (2007)
#13 Poltergeist
#14 Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
#15 Paranormal Activity
And the next five were:
#6 Psycho (1960)
#7 Silence of the Lambs
#8 Jaws
#9 The Sixth Sense
#10 Stephen King's It (the original scary clown)
But what about the top five scary movies? Well, according to this week’s survey respondent/voters:
#5 Saw
#4 Carrie (the 1976 version)
#3 The Shining (the 1980 version)
#2 Children of the Corn
Oh – and as for the scariest movie?
Why it’s 1973’s The Exorcist!

Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s NAPA Net Reader Poll!
