(How Much) Would Financial Literacy Help?

Though not invoked with the frequency it once was, calls for improved financial literacy remain a constant refrain as a means to help assure the nation’s financial security.

To their credit, academics have managed to work out a fairly short and concise list of questions by which they claim to be able to assess one’s financial literacy – and it’s even multiple choice.

This week, I’d like to know your thoughts about financial literacy. What do 401(k) savers need to know in order to be better 401(k) savers? Could early, or at least earlier, education make a (big) difference, and do you think financial literacy should be part of the core education curriculum? Have you been part of those kinds of literacy efforts/programs in your local schools, and how has that worked?

Oh, and as an extra bonus, what do you think of that financial literacy test as a means of assessing financial literacy? (Yes, we have a copy – and you can take the test.)

Respond to this week’s NAPA Net reader poll at https://www.research.net/r/2F5BGB3.

And we’ll wrap it all up for you on Friday.
