MEPs – What’s Next?

There’s been a lot of buzz about multiple employer plans (MEPs) of late – but it’s not a new idea (there are roughly 5,000 MEPs in the U.S.) – so, what happened – and what can we expect from President Trump’s Aug. 31 Executive Order?

A new white paper by Pentegra's SVP and National Sales Director Pete Swisher and First Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary Robert Alin provides an overview of the current environment surrounding MEPs and the history of where the industry stands on these programs today.

The authors outline the history of MEPs, the circumstances that slowed their growth and the legal effect of the executive order, and explore the prospects for, and potential timing of, change, as well as what it all may mean to the U.S. retirement system.

The white paper is available at https://www.pentegra.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/2018-stance-on-open-MEPs-Part-1-FINAL.pdf.
