NAPA Welcomes Assaley as President

The National Association of Plan Advisors welcomed Alex Assaley, AIF, as its 2020-2021 President on April 9.

Assaley is the Managing Principal and the Lead Advisor for Retirement Plans at AFS Retirement Services in Bethesda, MD. A second-generation financial advisor, he has been a plan advisor since 2005. Assaley has been named as one on NAPA’s Top Retirement Plan Advisors Under 40 since the list was launched in 2014. In 2012 he was named Employee Benefit Adviser magazine’s Retirement Advisor of the Year and 401kWire’s Top Retirement Plan Advisor of the Year–Large Market.

Assaley has a Bachelor’s degree in economics from West Virginia University and holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 66 securities registrations. He lives in Vienna, VA with his wife Jamie and son George.

Other changes on the NAPA Leadership Council for 2020-2021 include:

  • Last year’s Vice President, Corby Dall of Resources Investment Advisors in Overland Park, KS is this year’s President-Elect.
  • Renee Scherzer of 401k Resources in Scottsdale, AZ replaces Dall as Vice President.
  • Outgoing President Pat Wenzel replaces her predecessor, 2019-2020 President Jania Stout, as an ex officio member.
  • Christopher Cervantes (Merrill Lynch), Ed Chairvolotti (Chairvolotti Financial) and Alicia Malcolm (UBS) replace Barbara Delaney and Charlie Snyder as at-large members. 
  • Don MacQuattie (Raymond James) replaces Jon Anderson as a Firm Partner representative.
