Setting the Stage for the 2016 NAPA 401(k) Summit

By Lisa Smith and Alex Assaley

Summer may be coming to a close, but preparations for the 2016 401(k) Summit are picking up steam.

Hopefully you have been spending the waning days of summer enjoying nice weather, family vacations, and preparing to propel your business forward. The 401(k) Summit Steering Committee is already looking into next year as well.

We have kicked off planning for the 2016 convention, which will be held next April 17-19 and is guaranteed to be one of the best industry conferences of next year. Last month the steering committee met for a two-day planning session in Nashville, Tenn. with tons of energy and excitement. Building off of the momentum from recent NAPA conferences (including the record attendance at last year’s 401(k) Summit in San Diego), our team and the NAPA leadership are focused on continuing to build and expand what has become the nation’s retirement plan advisor’s convention. The retirement plan industry continues to evolve and mature, with much for us to discuss and debate and all of this is on the table for the 2016 Summit. More importantly, the NAPA 401(k) Summit remains the only retirement plan conference designed by advisors for advisors, and we are continually listening to you — NAPA Firm Partners, members and practitioners, on the themes, trends and hot topics that you want to hear about.

Here is what you have to look forward to:

  • A world-class venue! The city of Nashville and their convention center (the Music City Center) provide an awesome environment for the Summit and you will be thrilled with the venue layout and accessibility, as well as all there is to do in Nashville. It’s also a great venue for spouses and family, so plan ahead and come a few days early or stay a little later to enjoy all there is to offer.

  • Expert insight and advice on regulations, specifically the DOL fiduciary proposal: By next April, this may be law (or nearing final ruling). At the NAPA 401(k) Summit, we will devote significant content to helping advisors, DCIOs and platform providers with advice, guidance and insight into the final ruling and how to navigate the law for your practice.

  • Cutting-edge content: The steering committee devoted much of our planning session discussing content for both General Sessions and workshops that will provide you with actionable takeaways and ideas to advance your practice. Drawing on your feedback, we are excited to raise the bar for the 2016 Summit with even more advanced topics, technical content and forward-thinking sessions. Got some new ideas? We’ve reopened our one-of-a-kind voting tool to make it easy for you to share your ideas and vote on topics that have already been recommended. You can still do so here.

So, mark your calendars today — and stay tuned for more updates and information about next year’s NAPA 401(k) Summit.

Lisa Smith and Alex Assaley are the Co-Chairs of the 2016 NAPA 401(k) Summit.
