As part of its continued growth in the U.S., Vontobel Asset Management announced that it has hired Peter Whitman to join the U.S. Intermediary team and lead its sub-advisory efforts.

Whitman brings nearly 30 years of business development experience with an established track record across retirement, sub-advised and registered investment advisor (RIA) markets, according to the firm’s announcement.

He will be responsible for further developing Vontobel’s U.S. intermediary relationships, encompassing distribution partnerships, as well as direct engagement with global banks and sub-advisors.

Whitman joins Vontobel from Nuveen, where he was Head of DCIO Strategic Accounts. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Putnam Investments, Turner Investment Partners and The Brinson Funds. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.

“We are pleased to welcome Peter, whose client-focused and solutions-oriented approach is well aligned with Vontobel’s values as a pure-play investment firm,” stated José Luis Ezcurra, Head of Sales Americas. “Vontobel is committed to maintaining strong growth in the U.S. with an expanded footprint, strategic partnerships and engagement with global banks, while helping our clients meet their long-term goals.”
