What’s Going on with HSAs?

Industry Trends and Research

Health savings accounts have become a significant and growing part of American workers’ benefit programs, and, increasingly a significant component of their retirement savings strategy.

Suggesting the growing convergence of health and retirement savings, more than half of respondents to the inaugural Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA) HSA benchmarking survey said that education was a dominant concern.

The survey of nearly 200 plan sponsors found that the most common resources used to educate employees about their HSAs were “how-to” guides (56.6%) and group presentations (59.9%). The inaugural HSA survey was sponsored by Empower Retirement.

This week, PSCA is launching the 2020 version of the survey, once again sponsored by Empower Retirement. The survey is designed to benchmark plan sponsors’ use of HSA plans and measure their perceptions of HSAs as a retirement savings vehicle.

We’re encouraging NAPA-Net readers to share this opportunity with their plan sponsor clients. Plan sponsors who participate will receive a complimentary copy of the survey results—as will their advisors. Interested? You can request a sample solicitation e-mail at [email protected].
