SUMMIT TALK 8

Retirement plans make an appealing target for cyber crimes – and on April 15, we’ll have a keynote address at the NAPA 401(k) SUMMIT with insights that will help you – and your clients – prepare.

Remember the “WannaCry” ransomware attack last year? In the aftermath, the Securities and Exchange Commission found a wide range of information security practices, procedures and controls among broker-dealers, investment companies and advisors. And late last year, a scheme targeting individual 401(k) accounts, potentially at multiple recordkeepers, resulted in a lawsuit by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Colorado to recover as much as $2 million in losses.

Let’s face it – not only are retirement plans an information-rich source of data, they have personally identifiable information – what hackers call “gateway” data that can open the door to no end of mischief.

You’ll gain some remarkable insights – and tips that can help you safeguard your data, and that of your clients – from Rachel Wilson, Head of Cybersecurity for Wealth Management Technology at Morgan Stanley. Wilson, who spent nearly 15 years at the National Security Agency (NSA), will share insights on current cybersecurity threats/trends, industry initiatives to protect financial data, and what advisors and your clients need to know about protecting themselves.

Wilson joined Morgan Stanley in April 2017 after nearly 15 years at the National Security Agency (NSA). She is responsible for protecting the cybersecurity of wealth management systems and the integrity and confidentiality of firm and client data, and advises the Head of Wealth Management Technology and his direct reports on cybersecurity issues ranging across code development standards, secure network architecture, vendor relationships, Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) detection and mobile security. She also leads field and client education and communication on cyber threats and mitigations.

It's going to be a real eye-opener at the end of a dynamic first day at the NAPA 401(k) SUMMIT – the nation’s retirement plan advisor convention.

Nashville, Tennessee. April 15-17, 2018. Register today at http://napasummit.org.
