Last Call for NAPA DC Fly-in Forum Registration

As part of the NAPA DC Fly-in Forum Sept. 17-18, top NAPA advisors from all over the country will spread out all over Capitol Hill to lobby members of Congress and their staffs. This very important advocacy project will help educate Congress on the impact of various pieces of legislation, such as tax reform, as well as regulations, such as the pending rule from the Department of Labor regarding the definition of a fiduciary. This is one of the most important functions NAPA members can undertake to help move the industry forward.

Members of Congress deal with hundreds of issues every week. From farm policy to foreign affairs to tax issues, most members of Congress cannot know the details of every bill. Fly-in Forum participants will offer themselves as a resource to both members and their staffs as they deal with retirement policy issues that will affect most of their constituents. NAPA members will be armed with facts and figures, as well as talking points on issues of importance to us.

As a result, those NAPA members will begin to form relationships with their elected representatives in Congress and key staff so that when the time comes for advice and counsel, we will be a trusted resource. This will continue the process of NAPA becoming a loud voice on Capitol Hill on behalf of the employer-based retirement system.

The Hill meetings are being set up now, with all Fly-in Forum confirmed participants being assigned to their member of Congress. So, if you’re registered for the conference, it’s imperative that you attend. And if you missed my Aug. 28 webcast briefing for attendees describing our great lineup of speakers, our issues and how the will meetings work, please review the webcast and PowerPoint presentation here.

If you’re not registered and you meet the qualification requirements, please act immediately — the registration period ends today! You can register here.

Jim Dornan is the Political Director of ASPPA and NAPA.
