Do Plans Want to Keep Ex-participants’ Accounts?

A recent survey of large plan sponsors finds that, for every employer that prefers terminated participants leave the plan, there are more than six that want them to leave their balances behind. Is that what you’re seeing?

The 2019 Hot Topics in Retirement and Financial Wellbeing survey by Alight reports that only 5% of employers prefer that participants remove their balances from the plan when they stop working for the company. Moreover, one in eight actually expressed a preference for keeping those balances in the plan, and another 21% did so, with a minimum balance.

This week, I’d like to know what you are seeing – and what you are recommending – to your plan sponsor clients.

Respond to this week’s NAPA Net Reader Poll at https://www.research.net/r/KHK9QP3.

And we’ll have it all wrapped up for you on Friday!
