Which Professional Designations ‘Matter’?

As most NAPA Net readers know (or should), earlier this year we launched a new certification, the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA).

Ours is a complex and ever-changing industry. Getting — and staying — on top of the latest developments (not to mention understanding the fundamentals) is an essential component of developing and expanding a successful practice, as you help your plan sponsor and participant clients.

But, as we all know, all certifications are not created equal. Some lack intellectual “rigor,” some cover ground that has little, if any, connection to workplace retirement plans, and still others seem primarily designed to provide training on how to use tools developed by the trainer.

Regardless, this week I’d like to know which designations/certifications you have, which you — and your clients — have found to be most valuable… and why.

Respond to this week’s reader poll at https://www.research.net/s/2015designations.
