EBSA Extends Comment Period on Lifetime Income Proposal

The U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration has announced a one-month extension of the comment period on its advance notice of proposed rulemaking focusing on lifetime income illustrations given to DC plan participants.

According to a June 27 news release from EBSA, some stakeholders indicated in writing that the original 60-day comment period — which was to end July 8 — did not provide enough time to comment given the significance of the issues addressed in the ANPRM. “To ensure that all interested persons have the opportunity to prepare and submit comments,” EBSA said, it is extending the comment period to Aug. 7.
