Reader Poll: How Do You Feel About Your Benefits?

It’s often said that the best benefits are designed to attract and retain the right kind of workers – so how do NAPA Net readers feel about their benefits?

On a scale from 1-10, where 10 is best… well, the responses were varied. Roughly 10% were inclined to rank their benefits that high, but a plurality – about a third – ranked their benefits as a “7.” Approximately one in five respondents ranked their benefits a “9,” a similar number embraced an “8” ranking, while the remainder split between a “6” and a “5.”

Just under half (47%) gave their health care plan an “8,” but the second-most popular response, provided by 23%, was a “5.” About 1 in 10 rated their benefit a “9,” “7,” “6,” or “4,” respectively. About half of this week’s respondents said they understood those benefits, while approximately 4 in 10 admitted that they “thought they understood them.” The rest were more aligned with the respondent who said “Uh – kind of.”

Retirement benefits came out a bit better among this week’s respondents. With that focus, more than a quarter rated those benefits a “10,” with about 22% classifying it as a “9,” and about one in five each placed them as an “8” or a “7.” The remaining 1 in 10 found them to be only a “5.”

We also asked respondents for their suggestions on ways to make those benefits better. More than 4 in 10 suggested a “better match,” more than twice the number that went with the number 2 choice, “add a defined benefit plan.” The rest split between adding a retirement income option, adding profit-sharing or a shorter vesting period.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our weekly NAPA Net reader poll!
