401(k) SUMMIT Topic Voting: ‘Plan Design vs. Education’ Leads

Which has a bigger impact on outcomes: plan design or education/communication? That’s the number one topic after one week of voting via NAPA’s unique way of choosing workshop topics for next year’s NAPA 401(k) SUMMIT. In all, nearly 2,700 votes were cast during the week. (When all of the votes were counted after last summer’s poll, the total topped 20,000.)

After Week 1, here are the top 10 topics in order of popularity:

1. Which has a bigger impact on outcomes: plan design or education/communication?
2. Leadership strategies for advisory teams
3. Auto features: Do they really work?
4. The retirement landscape of the future
5. Successfully competing in the larger plan market
6. The alignment of retirement and health care
7. Advisor pricing: How creative can you get?
8. ERISA budgets and fee revenue equalization
9. Communicating with plan committee personalities
10. Outcomes: case studies in employee education

To vote, just click here. It only takes a few minutes to participate in this fun, interactive online poll. Here’s how it works:

• The online tool presents two session ideas. You pick your favorite — or add your own idea for others to vote on.
• The process is then repeated, with two more ideas to choose from and another opportunity to suggest a better one. Every time you suggest an idea, it’s added to the pool of ideas that others vote on.

You can vote as often as you’d like, and see which topics are in the lead. Maybe your idea will be at the top of the heap next week!
