And the Current Voting Tool Leader is…Participant Advice

What are the best ways to comply with the regulations on providing advice to participants and avoid conflicts of interest? That’s currently the number one topic on NAPA’s unique voting tool, an innovative method for choosing workshop topics for next year’s NAPA 401(k) SUMMIT. In all, nearly 9,000 votes have been cast so far.

As of today, July 10, here are the top 10 topics in order of popularity:

1. The ins and outs of providing participating advice — how to comply with the regulations and avoid conflicts of interests.

2. How advisors can convince closely held business owners in caring about participant outcomes and implementing a strategy.

3. You say you are providing participant advice, but are you complying with the existing regulations, and how could that change in the future?

4. What are the do’s and don'ts in the health care, education and tax-exempt markets, and how do they compare to the corporate market?

5. Tools to manage a qualified plan with a non-qualified plan.

6. How should retirement plan advisors partner with "blind squirrels" — or should they?

7. Are brokerage windows a thing of the past?

8. Allocation of revenue sharing and plan costs.

9. Upfront sales commissions — are they viable?

10. How to provide participant advice and be compliant under the regulations and avoid conflicts of interest. (See #1.)

To vote, just click here. It only takes a few minutes to participate in this fun, interactive online poll. Here’s how it works:

• The online tool presents two session ideas. You pick your favorite — or add your own idea for others to vote on.

• The process is then repeated, with two more ideas to choose from and another opportunity to suggest a better one. Every time you suggest an idea, it’s added to the pool of ideas that others vote on.

You can vote as often as you’d like, and see which topics are in the lead. Maybe your idea will be at the top of the heap next week!
