It may not be for everyone, but for most of this week’s NAPA Net survey respondents, the best career choice was to be an investment manager.
That job didn’t even make CareerCast’s recent list of 200 best jobs, but it topped our readers’ ranking of career choices in this week’s poll.
That said, it didn’t beat the number 2 option — financial planner — by much, suggesting that readers are likely happy with their career choices.
Oddly, meteorologist was rated third-highest — just ahead of another career filled with unpredictability: economist. The rest of the top 10:

- Biomedical engineer
- Photojournalist
- Astronomer
- Software engineer
- Plan sponsor
- Broadcaster
Actuary, which routinely (and in CareerCast’s recent survey) ranks very highly in such polls, came in 13th in our poll. Among other industry jobs in our poll:
- DOL investigator came in 17th
- TPA was ranked 18th
- recordkeeper was ranked 25th
- HR manager was 26th
- IRS auditor was ranked 34th
Corrections officer — a low-ranked position in the CareerCast poll — was ranked lowest in our poll as well.
