A recent blog post from the Council of Economic Advisors went straight at fixed-indexed annuities, pegging them as a problematic financial product for various reasons. The American Retirement Association’s CEO Brian Graff and President-Elect Jeffrey Acheson responded with a high-profile op-ed that strongly defended the product and the companies that produce them.
Graff recently hosted Tim Hauser, COO of the DOL’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), on an episode of the D.C. Pension Geeks podcast to discuss the Retirement Security Rule. Graff asked Hauser about in-plan annuities and his feelings on the topic. Here’s what he had to say.
