DOL Unveils Agenda for Fiduciary Rule Hearings

The U.S. Department of Labor has unveiled the agenda for 25 panels to be held over four days of hearings on the fiduciary proposal next week.

The hearings will commence at 9 a.m. on Aug. 10, and conclude at 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 13. The panels are slated to run an hour each, and include a wide variety of voices on the topic. Marcy Supovitz, the president-elect of the American Retirement Association, will be part of a panel on Aug. 12.

During the hearing, which will be held in the César E. Chávez Memorial Auditorium at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, each presenter will be allotted ten (10) minutes in which to complete his or her presentation, and participate as part of a panel. It’s expected that there will be questions from the Labor Department for the presenters as well.

The hearing will be transcribed and the comment period will remain open after the conclusion of the hearing until 14 days after the official transcript is posted on EBSA’s website.

The hearings will be open to the public, but seating will be limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
