The cover story of the new issue examines the renewed drive to add lifetime income provisions to 401(k) plans and looks at the new guaranteed income products coming to market. The Spring issue is the first of two digital-only versions of the magazine in 2022. It will not be printed and mailed, nor will the Fall issue. (The Summer and Winter issues will be in both print and digital format.) This alternating print strategy is increasingly common in the magazine industry, since it cuts the significant annual costs of printing and mailing—in this case, in half. Adding to the difficulty today: the worst inflation in 40 years and unprecedented supply chain problems disrupting the market for magazine-quality paper.
