Nine out of 10 Advisors Oppose Fiduciary Rule

Opposition to the Department of Labor’s pending fiduciary definition rule among advisors continues to hold strong at 90 percent, according to a Financial Services Institute poll released July 9.

The poll of 2,300 independent financial advisors also focused on the upcoming midterm elections and critical industry issues facing independent financial advisors. Findings include:

• 66 percent of independent financial advisors believe the Republican party will gain control of the Senate in the midterm elections in November;
• 43 percent said equities will have a strong show the rest of 2014;
• 41 percent said they have a succession plan in place; and
• 15 percent said they plan to retire or sell their practice in the next five years.
