SEC's Piwowar to Speak at NAPA’s DC Fly-In Forum

SEC Commissioner Michael S. Piwowar has accepted NAPA’s invitation to speak at the 2014 NAPA DC Fly-in Forum, set for Sept. 30-Oct. 1. In January, Piwowar, the SEC’s newest commissioner, expressed concerns that the agency’s rulemaking on the uniform fiduciary rule could cause confusion. Piwowar advocated instead for more disclosure and investor education.

Other speakers who have been invited to participate in this year’s Fly-In Forum include Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), the House Majority Leader, and Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), who serves on the Senate Finance Committee and Senate Committee on the Budget.

With only 25 of the 150 Fly-In Forum Delegate seats still open, qualified advisors who are NAPA members and are interested in getting an insider’s view of what’s happening in Washington — as well as the opportunity to lobby members of Congress and key staffers — should apply now.

Last fall, the group of elite plan advisors who attended the inaugural NAPA DC Fly-In Forum said that the conference was a resounding success and in many cases was great for their business. To qualify, plan advisors must be a NAPA member or senior decision maker and have:

• firm designation as a retirement specialist (if applicable) or retirement industry designation
• $100M+ in retirement AUA
• 10+ retirement plans
• 2,000+ plan participants
• 5+ years experience servicing retirement plans
