Bob Doll Says Adios to Retirement

Investment Management

Just three months after announcing that he was retiring from Nuveen, capping off a distinguished 42-year career, Bob Doll has joined a new firm.

Faith-based investment management firm Crossmark Global Investments announced June 2 that it has appointed Doll as Chief Investment Officer. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Houston, Crossmark provides a full suite of investment strategies to institutional investors, financial advisors and the clients they serve.

In his new executive role, Doll will lead the Crossmark’s investment team and be responsible for growing and expanding the firm’s investment product offerings, focusing on several new actively managed products. He also will help Crossmark’s clients navigate through market cycles and construct portfolios to meet their values and long-term goals, according to the announcement.

For more than 30 years, Doll offered an annual set of 10 predictions forecasting key themes and risks that he believes are positioned to shape the economy and markets for the coming year. At Crossmark, he will write a weekly investment commentary, “Doll’s Deliberations.”

As Nuveen’s Chief Equity Strategist and Senior Portfolio Manager at Nuveen Asset Management, Doll he managed the Large Cap Equity Series, consisting of long and long-short strategies. Prior to joining Nuveen, he held similar roles at other large asset management firms, including Chief Equity Strategist at Blackrock, President and Chief Investment Officer at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, and Chief Investment Officer at OppenheimerFunds.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Bob as our new Chief Investment Officer. He is a powerhouse and thought leader among the investment community and will bring his outstanding 41-year track record to our investment team here at Crossmark,” Mike Kern, President & CEO of Crossmark Global Investments, stated in the announcement.

As a part of Crossmark’s expansion, Doll will open a new branch in Princeton, NJ, where he will report directly to Kern and will work alongside the firm’s Chief Market Strategist, Victoria Fernandez. “I’m pleased to be joining a firm that holds its investment products to a high ethical standard and embeds its values into its overall business model, Doll said. “It is a rarity to come across such a unique culture, and I’m excited to continue my journey in this industry in a way that is also significant for the common good.”
