TGIF…No, Really.

TGIF

Well, here we are again at the end of yet another workweek—and month, and halfway through 2023—and yet, just look at what happened to these guys and gals…

Image: Shutterstock.comFirst, some odds and ends…

In Nambia, Africa, a Portuguese vessel that set sail from Lisbon in 1533 and disappeared…was recently discovered…in the desert…and that’s not all…

While it’s been said that neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night can stay these couriers from their appointed rounds…in Austin, Texas, something new has arisen that has…

What AI thinks Europeans think Americans look like…state by state… (p.s. the disclaimer is a hoot)

In Reykhavik, Iceland…apparently people have to be told this.

In Sevierville, Tennessee, apparently people are really anxious to check out the new Buc-ee’s (having just visited one a few weeks ago, I can attest it’s quite a thing)…perhaps too anxious… and yes, we have video…

In New Bedford, Massachusetts, on February 14, someone curious about the emerging possibilities of a key force of nature…checked out James Clerk Maxwell’s “An Elementary Treatise on Electricity” from the New Bedford Free Public Library… they must be really slow readers…

In Minneapolis, Minnesota….at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport it apparently takes a long time for winter to leave…

And now for the main “events”:

In Seattle, Washington, police responding to a 911 call about an unresponsive person in a car… found an unnamed man…and a lot more…

Pity they couldn’t just open the door and let this miscreant out in mid-air (with a parachute, of course)…

In Concord, New Hampshire, Narquin Antonio Sanchez-Unbes, 23, was arrested, having allegedly delivered 25 pounds of crystal met.hamphetamine to an undercover agent…reportedly the largest seizure of met.h in state history… Narquin brought it into the state from nearby Massachusetts…via what would seem to be an unusual conveyance for such a “delivery”…

In Montgomery, Alabama, officers responded to a robbery call here shortly after 11 am…. And then learned that someone had been carjacked at gunpoint…they tried to pull over the stolen vehicle, but the driver refused to stop…a chase ensued…and eventually the fleeing vehicle crashed into another vehicle…with no injuries reported… but there was something unusual about the driver…

And finally, in Lincoln, Nebraska, an unnamed 20-year-old was pulled over on his motorcycle…for doing 106 mph…and on a revoked driver’s license… what’s ironic is that he was speeding…as he left the courthouse…where he had been sentenced for (go ahead, you can say it)…

Have a GREAT weekend, folks! Wishing the folks up in New England (particularly Vermont) a speedy recovery from all the flooding!
