In Ann Arbor, Michigan, a Construction Genie GTH-636 Telehandler—equipped with a forklift and weighing up to 35,000 pounds—was stolen from outside the Forsyth Middle School here… and, as the vehicle was unlocked and the key inside the cab… well, it didn’t take long for someone to commandeer it… lead police on an hour-long chase…whilst striking 10 parked vehicles during the pursuit… and the commandeerer?
In Burlington, North Carolina, an individual who was using a propane tank to fuel a turkey fryer… fell asleep… and then woke up… the hard way…
In Queens, New York, an unnamed—but no longer unidentified—masked trio got out of a Mazda…and stepped into a tobacco shop here… pointed guns at employees and customers…while the third emptied the cash register and grabbed merchandise and employees' cellphones before fleeing…a video of the event was widely circulated…and an anonymous tipster passed along the Instagram handle of one of the suspects…based on…what?
And finally, in Vera Beach, Florida, Caleb Phillips, 46, had been arrested and was being checked into jail recently following a warrant…charging him with failure to appear in court in connection with a pending 2022 DUI case… whilst changing into his new wardrobe… a corrections officer found a “plastic cylinder”…containing an illicit substance… in an unusual placement… and when confronted, Caleb, of course, denied any knowledge…and said it must have been “placed there while he was asleep”… though that seems unlikely considering the “unusual placement”… and Caleb’s rap sheet… so, about that unusual placement…
