TGIF. No, Really.

TGIF

If you think you’ve had a bad week, just remember – it could have been worse. Check out what happened to these guys (and gals)…

Near Wetumpka, Alabama, Robert Swindle, 23, and his father had just left the casino here around 2:30 a.m. when… for reasons unexplained… a police officer ran a check on the vehicle, and found that the license tags, though not the car, were reported as stolen… Initially the Swindles responded to the signal to pull over… but as soon as the officer emerged from his vehicle, they took off… only to stop about a mile down the road on the Calloway Creek Bridge… where the father… and then Robert… attempted an unusual escape attempt…

In San Francisco, California, Shana Becerra filed suit, claiming that she had been purchasing and drinking Diet Dr Pepper for more than 13 years and “did not receive what she paid for” because of deceptive advertising… The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has now “weighed” in…

In Groton, Connecticut, Kenneth Holfler, 23, was driving north in a red 2009 Nissan Versa SL over the Gold Star Memorial Bridge here… at what can fairly, if not conservatively, be described as a fair rate of speed… and frequently changing lanes… only to crash while getting off at an exit… He happened to livestream his escapade… which state police commented, “Sometimes a Trooper’s accident report writes itself”… And yes, we have video…

In Saginaw Township, Michigan, an unnamed 29-year-old man was in a Victoria’s Secret here recently… and he went to put his wallet back into his pocket… and accidentally put something else into his leg…

Near Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, you are supposed to be careful when passing a school bus… but perhaps it’s even more important to be careful when a school bus passes you… sideways… And yes, we have video

In Oliver Springs, Tennessee, Nancy Bray Hawkins, 59, and her husband Roy were involved in a domestic dispute of sorts… on Christmas Day, no less… Apparently an argument escalated to the point where Nancy started throwing items at Ray… and that moved on to her grabbing a fully loaded Taurus .38-caliber revolver, pointing at both herself and Roy, threatening his life… though he was able to disarm her, and departed the residence… at which point Nancy chased after him… with a 7.5-inch meat cleaver… and an 8-inch knife… though Roy was able to disarm Nancy both times… Finally, she threw a large metal pole at him which injured his arm… So, what started the argument?

And finally, in Pontiac, Michigan, Mark Jerome Hoover, 25, went on a crime spree of sorts that involved eight carjackings in 90 minutes, plus some home invasions, a kidnapping, and that’s not all… Here’s the rundown… it started about 5:30 p.m. when Mark (1) tried to steal a purse from his neighbor… but failed and ran back home across the street… escaping out a back window before sheriff's deputies arrived… Mark then (2) approached some kids who were sitting in a car in a driveway here… jumped in the car, pointed a handgun at the kids and demanded the keys… but the kids didn’t have them… so Mark took off again… He then (3) approached a woman in her car… pointed a handgun at her and demanded she stop her vehicle…. except she accelerated the car instead… in the process striking Mark… who managed to run away again… and then (4) tried to carjack another woman… and even though Mark had opened the driver-side door, pointed a handgun at her, and demanded she get out… she started kicking him, yelled, and honked her horn… at which point Mark took off again… He next (5) approached a grandmother and her granddaughter… pointed a handgun and demanded her car keys… She gave Mark the keys and her purse… but when Mark tried to start the car, it wouldn’t… so he exited the vehicle, threw the purse and ran away… then Mark (6) stumbled across a car running in a driveway… and since no one was in the vehicle, Mark jumped in, drove off… only to leave the car on the side of the road shortly after… After that, Mark (7) forced his way into a house, pointed a handgun at the homeowner, and threatened to kill him… but the homeowner fought back, and Mark left the house… albeit with the homeowner's cellphone… After that Mark (8) approached another car with a family (including four children under the age of 7)… He threatened the driver with a handgun and demanded everyone get out of the car… and though Mark used the handgun to hit the driver over the head, this driver managed to accelerate and drive away… Then Mark (9) approached an Amazon delivery truck, forced his way in the vehicle, and threatened the driver… driving off with the victim still in the truck…. threatened her when she opened the passenger door to jump out, but her foot became stuck… dragged her for about 20 yards until the victim’s foot became dislodged… crashed the truck and left it on the side of the road… And then Mark (10) approached three men in a running car… pointed his gun at two of the males, demanding they exit the vehicle, but kept one with him… So, what brought this all to an end?

Have a great weekend, folks! Welcome to 2020!
